Shu is a Product Designer at Google based in California, leading the Shorts Ads experience on YouTube to drive long-term user value and revenue growth. Prior to Shorts, she led UX efforts across Creator, SMB, and Youth experiences—shaping the way diverse audiences connect and thrive on the platform.
With over a decade of experience, Shu has been designing impactful experiences, studying user behavior, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver thoughtful, elegant solutions since 2010. Before joining Google, she led a talented design team at NETGEAR and helped several startups craft successful product experiences.
Her background in architecture and recognition as one of Lighting Magazine’s “40 under 40” designers has shaped her unique perspective on design—balancing structure with creativity, and vision with execution. These experiences have trained her to approach complex problems with clarity, always focused on driving business goals while empowering users.
Beyond product work, Shu is deeply passionate about mentorship. She actively guides junior designers, fosters a culture of learning and sharing, and contributes to the design community - most notably speaking at Google I/O on accessibility and inclusive design.
